White Wednesday - Mixed Media

Well, here it is. My first mixed media project.

The theme is **PEACE** which is my word of the year.

It took me a very long time, but it was fun. I have a few other projects on the go, so I won't be doing another page for awhile.

If you haven't read my blog before, here is the link to the binder that I made to put these pages in.

**PEACE**
Check out Kathleen's great blog Faded Charm for more great White Wednesday.

Makeover Monday - Potting Bench

This used to be my grandson's baby changing table. It was made for him by my late uncle.
It sat on my back patio for years, getting terribly weathered. This week I painted it white (is there any other colour?) A friend of mine made a sheet metal top that fits on top just perfectly.

My sister made curtains out of outdoor fabric to hide the clutter underneath.

I covered the shelves with peel 'n stick tiles so they will be easy to wipe off.
Now that I have my very own potting bench, will my gardening ability improve any? I hope so.
I am linking up with Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday.

Meet My Friend, Sandi

The first friend I made in Blogland was Sandi from Wayside Treasures. I always felt that we were 'soul sisters'. The way she decorates, her love for her Lord, her closeness to family and the way she cares about others. Even though we have never met in person, I consider her a close friend and look forward to both her posts and her personal notes to me online. When I began my own blog, I wanted it to be like hers. Genuine and heartfelt, blessing and uplifting those who might happen to read it.
Thank you, dear friend.

White Wednesday - Spring Nesting

My daughter and her friend took me out 'treasure hunting' for Mother's Day on Saturday. It was a wonderful day, full of sunshine and great finds.
The detail on this white rose cake plate is amazing.

Since it was only $2.00, I have money left to go to the bakery and buy the cake. (I am not into baking much any more)

I also did a vignette on top of my corner fireplace. I have found it difficult to work with, but I think this is my favorite arrangement. I picked up the pretty bird pencil sketch for a few cents.

The angel print is part of a set that I bought at The Passionate Home.

Happy White Wednesday everyone.
Thanks to Kathleen for hostessing.

My Cottage Garden

My sister has been asking for some photos of my garden. Warning: if you have a green thumb, you will probably be horrified. :)
This is the birdfeeder that I got on clearance from HomeSense. It was marked down because some of the pieces were missing. My dad put it together with bits of this and that from the hardware store. He is very handy that way.

This is a dwarf lilac. It has been planted for 3 years and this will be our first flowers from it.

This is my favorite part of my garden. Dad built my shed when we first bought our home. It is my favorite earthly treasure. I loved the idea of hanging tea cups from the window boxes. It gives the garden a bit of colour even when there are no flowers.

This is our Retirement Home (just a joke my DH made up) I think it is a bit of whimsy and fun in my garden. You may notice alot of local plants. We find that the ones that grow best for us come from our local forest. They are free and the ones we pay for usually don't survive. Neither of us is really gifted in the 'gardening department'.

Oooooops

I am so sorry Kathleen that I forgot to post a link to your blog for White Wednesday.

A Return to White Wednesday

Guess who went 'treasure hunting' recently? Nope, wasn't me. It was my youngest daughter.
It seems that she has a new hobby. (May I say she's a chip off the ol' block)
While she was out, she spied this amazing find. Creamy white, lacy and ready for some tea-time treats. She brought it home to me. The best part of it is -She 'gets me'! She totally 'gets me'!
It is in the middle of my kitchen table so it is the first thing I see every morning.
Thank you so much, sweetie. I love you.

PS - Can you see my really cool black and white lace rubber boots in the bottom corner of the photo? My plan was to take over lawn mowing from my DH list of chores. But they look cute just sitting in my kitchen anyway.
