Not Quite Right

Found this white pitcher at HomeSense and brought it home. But - it is just too large for my little space. Back it goes.

Thrift Store Heaven

These are just a sample of the treasures I found while on vacation in Kamloops. I think there was a thrift store on every block! Nothing I bought was over $2.00.
This pretty silver dish was quite tarnished. I had planned on painting it white but is polished up pretty well. It will remain silver (for now). I haven't yet found a home for it.
This little tray was already painted white. Someone else thinks the same way as I do.
I am looking for a chunky pediststal that I can glue a plate to, to make a base for this glass dome. I would like to put one of those faux cupcakes under the glass. I wonder if that would make me hungry all the time?

Button, Button .....

Button, Button I'VE got the button!

After seeing all the nice buttons on Karla's blog http://karlascottage.typepad.com/karlascottage/collections/

I was inspired to start a little collection of buttons of my own. The first few were fun to find, a few here and a handful there at the thrift store. Then I hit the jackpot - a quart jar full of them! I suppose my button collecting, treasure hunting days are over (I was just getting started)

My next mission now is to find a place to display them. Someone had them in vintage gum ball machines, how cute is that! Any ideas, anyone?

Our Favourite Things

I have too many favourite things in my house to choose only one, so I randomly picked my bed.

It originally belonged to my great aunt, then my parents slept on it at the farm. My son inherited it when he was younger. After he moved out on his own, it was kept in storage for a few years. This past year we re-decorated my bedroom and as a gift, my DH painted it white one day while I was out running errands. I was thrilled!

My Summer Vacation

I am back from a week's vacation at my sister's house.

We were even 'robbed' by train robbers - what a hoot!

Thrifty Find

One of my dear friends gave me a gift of cash to be used for treasure hunting. I am having such a great time. We found a new thrift store where I found a few goodies which I will post later. For now, have a look at this crockery canister. I will use it for dog treats in my French bistro kitchen. Only $3.99. I love a good find.

Happy Canada Day!

We spent a fabulous day at the military families and friends BBQ. My DD and SIL both play in the Armed Forces band and my DH and I went to watch the grandchildren while they were busy. The weather was perfect and we stayed all afternoon.
The gazebo was all decked out!
