A Crafty Daughter

 

My daughter decided to recycle a burlap bag one day. She hunted through my thrift store fabrics, lace, and doilies. She hand stitched them to the bag one layer at a time until she ended up with a really nice project. So creative. All this loveliness was made from recycled items.

 

 

This is what the bag looked like before. It was the bag she received when she purchased some items from an aromatherapy shop.

I haven't decided what to do with my new bag. But for now it sits in my bedroom so I can admire the love and care she put into it. That suites me just fine.

Lavender and Lemon Tea

One thing my BFF's love to do is have tea parties. This one was in honour of our 10th Anniversary of being a group. We have so many great memories of things we have done over the years. It was wonderful to sit on the patio and reminisce about them.

The theme of this tea was Lavender and Lemons. I found some wonderful ideas on Pinterest. Everyone contributed and it was fun to see the table setting come together.

Lemon tarts and lemon cookies. 



Pretty candles and some lavender doilies from the thrift store.

Vanilla cupcakes with lemon pie filling.

We used jelly jars with special lids for the lemonade and iced Lavender Berry Tea.

The tags were printed from Clean and Scentsible.

There was a chalkboard label on each glass so we could write our names on them.

My kitchen table wire basket made a nice centerpiece with fresh lemons in the top and scones on the bottom. We had Lavender honey for the scones.

My sister made peat pots and lavender, and lavender eye masks for everyone to take home. We make a good team, I find the ideas, then I tell ask her politely to make them all. She is just so talented.

Deja Vu Vintage Market

 

 

My dear friends held a birthday party for me last month. Many of them gifted me with $$$$ which I saved for the Deja Vu Vintage Market. The market was fabulous. I wanted to share some of my goodies. There are still a few more, but I will wait until they are in their new places before I take the photo.

 

(It has been months since I attempted a post, so please bare with me)

 

 

My first find was this vintage photo frame. There is some pretty scrapbook paper in it for now, just to show it off. 

 

 

Here is a close up of the rose carving detail.

 

 

Next was a sewing machine drawer. I have looked for one for a long time. I found some on Etsy, turns out the vendor was going to be at the Market. She brought it along so I would save on the shipping.

I plan to paint it shabby white. Just can't decide whether or not to use chalk paint.

Another long time want of mine. A trophy. I told my DH it was for the World's Best Wife. I sure missed a chance to butter him up, I should have said for the World's Best Hubby. *smiles*

Still one other score! My vintage scale. Was I on a roll or what!

 

 

You probably can`t make it out in the photo, but it says Made in Australia.

 

 

 

A few bits and bobs. Baker`s twine. Ceiling tile. Pretty silver spoon handle with a crystal attached. They were crafted specifically for bridal bouquets, I don`t plan on getting married, so it will either be a key chain or a necklace.

 

Don`t forget, there is still more.

 

I will remember this shopping bonanza for a long time to come.

My Fall Decor

 I am almost too late to post fall, but here are just a few little bits of my new things from this year.

Gorgeous fabric pumpkins that I bought from Becky at Timewashed on Etsy.

 The cream and sugar pumpkins are actually from last year. I bought them online from June at Scarlett Rose.

 This is a new velvet and lace pumpkin from Victorian Trading.

(Notice the tag that I haven't removed yet? lol)

The cookie jar is not new, neither is the hand painted picture. I bought the picture last winter at my friend's craft sale. I just haven't found the right spot for it yet. I almost gave it away this summer. I was hoping that someday when we can replace our kitchen cabinets that it will find a permanent place to be hung.

 

So, I am thinking that the next post I will start to have some Christmas to show you. I went to my first Christmas craft fair this season. Also, alot of the stores have tempting decor out.

New Pillows

 I have a sister who can make anything. I just have to ask her, and then wait till she gets some free time, then TA-DA, just like that I can have anything I want. 

 Here are the pillows that she made for my living room. Pretty impressive, eh!

What? You say.

Well remember the puppy that is staying at my cottage, the one that likes to eat things? That is why my new pillows are safe and sound in my bedroom closet. Until I can safely bring them out.

I am NOT taking any chances with these pillows. (She has already attacked 2 of my other pillows)

 

Now, don't you wish you had a sister like me? I have two of them, both equally creative and generous. Thanks, Sis.

Now For the Left Side

 

Last White Wednesday I showed you how I decorated the right side of the armoir bookcases. Today I will add the left side.

The pillow on the side chair was from Tracey. Tracey has an Etsy shop as well as tables set up at several Vintage Fairs. We are always bumping into each other.
 

 

This shelf has one of my Rust pieces by Janis. One day I will count just how many of her gorgeous art pieces I own. I think I need to start a fan club. lol

Silver plate painted with chalkboard paint also from Tracey. I had intended to use it to display my vintage magnets, but they would not stick. Who knew? I suppose silver is not magnetic.

Now that you have seen the bookcases all decked out, I have to let you know that I put everything away in a box this morning. Getting ready for Fall decorating. There is so much lovely inspiration out there on Pinterest and Blogland.

White Wednesday #167

 Today I thought I would share with you how I decorated my new bookcases that Dad made for me. I figured I had better do that now because after September 1st I want to start decorating for fall.

 

This is all on the right side of the armoir.

 

First photo above is some of my recent finds at one of the many Vintage Markets that I was able to attend this past year. I have the vintage flash card and a wooden letter P. Get it?

I loved this creamer that I found for a song (actually I can't sing) at a thrift store. The baby roses are silk from an Etsy Vendor in France. One of my no-so-thought-out purchases in the early morning before coffee.

 What I liked about them is that they light up. Tiny little LED's in the centre of each rose. I don't know what I was thinking that morning.

 The silver glitter bird was a last year's purchase at a Vintage Market, the old books I put together with some hand-stamped ribbon from my favorite brick and mortor store.

 This piece you have seen before. Probably my favorite. I leave it up all year.

 This is a paper mache book created by my good friend B. All the flowers are hand punched and glued on individually. I would not have the patience for a project like this.

 I always have to have a bird cage. The magazine holders I tried to improve on Ikea wooden ones. No matter how I tried, I was never really happy with them. I like my cardboard covered with wallpaper ones better.
