Tell Me About Yourself

 

 

Claudine From CondensedLoveHome nominated me for the "Tell Me About Yourself" Award. Since I have been so terribly uninspired lately about posting on my blog, I thought this might be the ticket to get me up and posting again. Thank you Claudine for thinking about me. In order to accept this award I need to say 7 things about myself and nominate 7 bloggers out there to do the same!
I hope you will find these 7 things interesting. 

Here we go:

1. I love all kinds of crafts and have probably tried most of them at one time or another. Right now my favorites are scrapbooking and vintage collage making.

2. My favorite colour is WHITE. Is there any other? lol

3. I don't read books very often, but I am a magazine fanatic. Some of my favorites are Romantic Homes, Somerset Life,  and Jeanne d' Arc Living. I will usually pick up any special issue about vintage or flea market decor.

4. I don't much care for tea, however I love collecting anything with a tea theme. Teacups, teapots, linens, silver etc.

5. I am a recent Pinterest addict.

6. Thrift store shopping is probably my most fun thing to do. I have also had the blessing of attending several vintage markets this summer. Love them, too!

7. My favorite music is relaxing classical.

Whew! That was tough. I don't much like talking about myself. Maybe I will find some boggers out there that have similar likes. I know you are out there.

Spring Project

 This is one of the spring projects that my Dad built for me this year. It is so great to have him living with us - he will build anything I ask him to. The armoir in the centre was a Craig's list find. He converted it from a computer desk into office storage. We sold the old Ikea bookcases that looked out of place in my colour scheme, but then I missed looking at all my pretty things that used to sit on them for display. I have to have my 'things' you know.

 So, Elinor from The Passionate Home suggested that we just add some small cases on either side of the armoir. Of course I could not find anything in the right size pre-made. So that was when I asked Dad if he would make them for me. Of course, how could he say 'no'.

I love how we used beadboad as the backing, and all the trim to make it look finished. Even all the edges have trim on them.

Now I need to take some photos of them filled up. I thought I had already done that. I guess that is for next time.

Romantic Homes?

 Do you love magazines? I do.

 This is (was) my July issue of Romantic Homes Magazine. One of the two that I subscribe to.

Looks like someone else in this house loves a good book, too.

I was a wee bit surprised (shocked) to find this on my bed. I should have known something was up when the house was so quiet one afternoon. My daughter's puppy, I believe, was to blame.

I'll just bet it was their best issue ever, too. :)

 I know it's been a R-E-A-L-L-Y long time since you have all had a post from me. This afternoon is quiet and the housework is done (is it really ever always done?) so I thought I should catch up on some of the things that I have been doing around the cottage.

The first thing I noticed is that Blogger is totally all changed! So I have to figure things out again. This may take some time, so I will keep my posts simple.

I met a fellow blogger and ARTISTE EXTRAORDINARE quite by accident one afternoon while my DH and I were taking a drive in a different township. My eagle eyes spotted a "Craft Sale" sign and I shouted - follow that sign! We did, and we eventually came to a home where several crafts people had set up a small sale. Of course I had to see what they had. I saw a few of Kristy's goodies, notably the signs that she makes. I fell in love. I took her business card and sent her an email asking if she would consider making a custom one for me.  She agreed and here is the resulting treasure.

Kristy has an amazing talent and the wood seems to inspire her. She loves a good challenge, too.

Waiting for Spring

See this pretty hand crocheted bag? Well I wanted to be able to enjoy it more so I put some tulips in a mason jar and set the mason jar inside the bag. It is sitting in the kitchen (the last room to be renovated - can you tell?) So you can use your pretty things for more than they were intended for.

Lady Pamela

My New Desk

There 'she' is in all her glory. My first big project of 2012. Isn't she lovely?

Colleen found her, My Dad sanded and painted her.

The little stool my DH gave me a few Christmases ago from the Little White House. I really liked it there because it doesn't hide the applique.

This is the paper floral picture that is on the wall next to my desk. I put it together but my friend put all the kits together for a whole group of us girlfriends. It is stunning.

And this is the little picture frame I chose for a photo of my sweetheart to sit on my desk. I love how the sunshine comes in the window through the blinds. I don't think I will need a lamp because I do my Bible study in the morning.
