Teacup Tuesday

This is probably the most unusual tea related item that I own. It is the little night light in my main bathroom. What unusual items do you have?
Kim at Shabby, Pink & Pretty has some very nice tea magnets. She is also the hostess for Teacup Tuesday. Thanks, Kim.

Thrift Store Thursday

This was a really good deal, it is genuine crystal. I have a piece just like it that I received for my 16th birthday. I thought I would have a matched pair, but when I got it home it was about 1/4 inch shorter than my original one. I'm sure one of my DD would love to give it a good home. The shape of this vase was so unique. I polished it as best as I could, but I think that the silver plate has been polished off. It must have been well loved.

What a surprise I got when I removed the price sticker. It is engraved with the letter 'P'.
Cool.

Wednesday Words

These are the books that I am reading right now. I borrowed them from the library. I started with Carolynn Westbrook Home, a truly lovely book. Well written with beautiful photos. I highly recommend it. See if your local library can get it in for you.
The other one is Decorating with White. An older book published by the editors of the original Victoria Magazine. I had a quick peek inside and the photos are just dreamy.
The last one is Living With Lace by Bo Niles (sorry for the poor picture) Looks like I have some great summer reading.

Teacup Tuesday

These are my everyday teacups from my dinnerware set. I have service for 12. I liked the embossed pattern. If you can't quite make out the pattern it is fleur-dis-lis. I thought it looked French to go with my kitchen decor. The teaspoon is a set that I collected a piece at a time from my favorite local coffee/gift shop. I was only able to get service for 4 before they ran out of spoons. If they get more in, I will add enough to make it 6.

Thrift Store Thursday

AKA - The One That Got Away!
I was at a thrift store on Thursday but didn't have any photos to show for it. I will attempt to explain.
The store was particularly busy, especially around the linen section. But, that is where I was interested in going. So I waited patiently for my turn to poke through. Jackpot! I found a beautiful lace top sheet, a double which would definitely fit my bed. I picked it up and carried it around the store, feeling pretty happy about my find. I decided to come back to the linens when the others had finished looking and it wasn't so busy. Not being too far away, I overheard several ladies looking over some other items - they all matched the sheet that I had! It had been a set.
I hoped they would pass it up, but that wasn't to be. One of them put the other pieces into her basket. Duvet cover, dust ruffle, pillow shams. They were beautiful.
I continued shopping, trying to ignore the promptings of the Holy Spirit (some of you may call that your conscience) I argued back and forth in my mind. I WANTED THAT BEAUTIFUL SHEET FOR MYSELF. Finally, I decided to do the right thing. I walked over to the woman, asked her politely if she would like the missing, matching piece and offered it to her. She was so touched, she gave me a hug! What gratitude. She was thrilled.
So that is the treasure that I found at the Thrift Store that Thursday. A hug and the peace that comes from knowing that you were a blessing to someone today. That is why there in no photo - lol.

Wednesday Words

I have seen posts on other blogs entitled 'Wordless Wednesday' but I decided to add my own twist to that and show you some of the 'words' around my cottage. I KNOW that I have taken more than one photo, but can't seem to find the digital file right now. (lol) So for now, here is a pretty enamel sign to share with you all.

Teacup Tuesday

I thought that for Teacup Tuesday I would share with you some of my favorite tea books. I just love to have tea parties. Most of these books are by my favorite author, Emile Barnes. The paintings in some are by Sandy Clough, some of you may be familiar with her work.

Please pay a visit to the other participants of Teacup Tuesday ( and tell them Lady Pamela sent you. lol)

Thrift Store Thursday

The Thrift Store in our little town has recently changed hands. The new owners have 'de-cluttered' a lot of the old treasures that I used to love poking through. It is not the same as the old store that I loved. However, I did find a few small 'treasures' this week.

The heart shaped, cutwork pillow reminds me of the cutwork my Austrian aunt used to do. I would love to learn how to do that. It seems like some needlework has become lost art.

I found a new tassel. I did make one for myself and had a lot of fun doing it, but this one was so pretty. Someone has put much effort and care into making it. It has a new home in my bedroom.
I so enjoy the sweet comments you leave for me. They make my heart happy.

100TH Post

I attended a Ladies Retreat near White Rock, BC. The speaker was so gifted. Our theme for this year was "Taking the High Road" Isaiah 35:8-9
The grounds there are beautiful and peaceful. They overlook the Pacific Ocean.

This Christian camp is situated in the cool coastal rainforest.

The meals were great and all prepared for us.

One funny thing that happened to us was that there were no lights in our cabin. We set up an extension cord and a makeshift lamp so we could see to go to the bathroom. The blessing there is that we tend to look much younger in the poorly lit mirror! lol

Yes! I am a Winner!

Last week Katie, at Rose Breeze Boutique, hosted a Teacup Tuesday giveaway. She has a very unique way of picking winners. Check out Giggles, the chicken! Wonderful news, Giggles picked Me! I am so excited! My "China" Paper Teacup will look similar to the one above. I'll take a photo of it when it arrives.
