Treasure Hunting

I went out today for a little while thinking that a little treasure hunting would help me forget my troubles. It helped take my mind off things. My first find was a silver hair brush -

with very pretty details.
Next, I picked up a silver sugar bowl. I will look for a small glass flower frog for it to make tiny arrangements.

Six place card holders, $.40 each.

I brought home a small flower arrangement as a rembrance of Tessa.
There were a few other bits that didn't photograph too well. A crystal salt celler, 2 candle cups to replace broken ones in my outdoor chandelier and 2 pink rose tins. Quite a hall for a quick trip to the thrift store.

Saying Goodbye

Why is it so hard to say "goodbye"? Today my heart is aching.
Goodbye, Tessa.

Makeover Monday

It's pretty cool what you can make with a chandelier crystal and some vintage seam binding.

I was also trying my hand at photo editing using a website www.picnik.com
I am finding it a relatively easy site to navigate. Loads of fun to play with.

Dollar Store Decor

A few simple items from our brand new Dollarama, paper roses, styrofoam balls and a ceramic pot.
Add a stick from the front yard and some moss from the backyard and you have a new topiary.
Easy, eh.

Makeover Monday

Step One:
Take an ordinary cardboard magazine folder. This one is from Ikea.
Step Two:
Bend, fold and mutilate until it looks like this. It helps if you read the directions first.

Step Three:
Add a roll of pre-pasted embossed wallpaper border.

Step Four:
Voila!

Step Five:
Fill with your favourite craft and decorating magazines and enjoy.
These ones will be going into my new little craft studio.

Easter Blessings

I had a great lot of fun crafting this Easter project. The basket is made by soaking a doily in fabric stiffener and draping is over a soup bowl. Don't forget to put plastic wrap over the bowl first or it will stick like glue. The first one I did I had to pull it all off in pieces. MARTHA
has a great video tutorial.
The eggs are paper mache, painted vanilla with bits of lace decoupaged onto them. Check out BETTY'S
pretty blog for some great 'egg'spiration.
Happy Easter!

New Blog Background

Thank you to Itkupilli from Cute n Cool Blog Stuff for the beautiful blog background.

Cup Cozies?

Here is what Sandra has suggested might be the intended use for these crocheted bits. Cup cozies. I tried one on a tumbler (sorry about the plastic, my glasses are all stemware) they seem to fit. Are there any other ideas out there? The original post is here.

Today's Catch

I went to my favorite coffee hangout this afternoon where they just happen to have giftware and home decor as well. What doesn't go better with biscotti than shopping? I found a doorstop for my kitchen which is shaping up to be a French bistro. It is flat on the back so it will not stick out from the wall too much. I was originally looking for a rooster, but DH wasn't too keen on the idea. I have no idea what he has against roosters. Anyway, he loved the Eiffel Tower.

What the Hey...???

Does anyone know what these would be for? I found them at a Thrift Store, still in the original packaging. They are about 3 inches long and about 2 1/2 inches wide. They sort of look like the toe of a sock. There were 6 in the package. I bought them just because I wanted to open the package to see what they were. lol.You know what they say about 'curiosity'.
