No Time for Projects

Today was a day for errands so there was no time to paint anything. So instead I am showing you the lovely gift my darling daughter brought me back from her holidays. It is a pretty lavendar cosmetic bag filled with lavendar bath products and a rose body cream. How wonderful! Thanks sweetie.
Tomorrow morning I am headed for the Gulf Islands for a 3 day Ladies Spiritual Retreat. I hope to get some good pictures to share with you and have lots to blog about. I am also spending Monday and Tuesday with my grandsons so I will be away from the computer for awhile. See you when I get back. Have a great weekend!

Fine Paintings

This is what I painted today. It used to be silver plated (I think) but I couldn't get it to shine up really nice. I decided that I wasn't really interested in polishing it anyway - so I sprayed it! More than one way to skin a cat (no offence to cats) I am looking for some rose potpourri to put into it.

See, I don't paint everything I see white. This I painted black and replaced the hooks with white ones. Since I no longer have a coat closet, this is where we hang our hats.
What will I paint tomorrow? Hmmmm.....

Retail Therapy

I was having a bit of a down day so I decided to prescribe some Retail Therapy for myself. Works every time! At the Thrift store I found a white floral plaque, not too bad looking, but plastic. Not too sure what to do with it yet.
Also discovered an old bird cage (someone has painted some lovely roses on the bottom tray).
Just wait 'til you see what I have planned to make out of this. You will just have to wait and see, I need to go and pick up a few odds and ends to create my masterpiece. I'm thinking maybe it would go on top of my refridgerator.

Trash to Treasure

Before

This post really isn't about garbage, but rather my new garbage can. I have been looking a long time for one for my newly decorated Master Bedroom but haven't been happy with the prices of them.

This week I found a tin plant pot at Canadian Tire (5.99) , but it was not a good colour for my bedroom. So today, being a nice day for painting, I took it outside and gave it 3 coats of white paint. It looks so much prettier now.

Can you see the pretty embossed rose detail?

'Broken' Hearted

Today I went shopping for some accessories for my French Baker's rack. I found this lovely white platter that I felt would go well.
Unfortunately, the minute I brought the bag in the front door, it slipped and fell to the floor (which happens to be cement) Oh Well. How do the the French say "that's life"? I did try gluing it back together, but it is too badly broken.
I have decided to look for something a little less breakable, like maybe a zinc plant pot or something.
Back to the drawing board.

French Country Bistro

This is our new Baker's rack (a gift from my MIL) We are trying to achieve a French Country Bistro look in our kitchen. Tomorrow I will go to a store called Cozy Country and look for accessories to dress it up. I really don't know what I will be looking for. Tonight I will look online and get some ideas.
Last December we had major restoration done because of a plumbing leak from our neighbours so we decided that since everything was already taken apart we might as well renovate and update our kitchen.
It is a work in progress. We had plumbers in today and are waiting for the electrician to get in touch with us next. (So please pardon the holes in the walls)
Our kitchen has a long way to go but it looks a million times better already. We aren't planning to be able to finish for about 2 years as we are doing it paycheck by paycheck.

This is what the Baker's Rack looked like before I painted it black. It was purchased at HomeSense.
The magnet board beside it was made for me by my sister out of an old cupboard door and some sheet metal.

The Passionate Home

This is one store that I love to go and visit. They have such lovely things there. Mostly black and white decor, distressed. They have recently moved to a new location. You can look at their website if you like. Enjoy -

Sunday Blessings

Here is the Mother's Day gift all the mom's got at our church. I was away last week (babysitting my grandsons) so I got it today. It is going to look very nice in my back garden.
Some things I learned today that renewed my Spirit
1. I forget those things I should remember ...
and I remember those things I should forget.
2. The Meaning of My Life -
To glorify God and to enjoy the life He has given me.

I also got to wear this cool new outfit today that my sister picked out for me. She has great taste. Nothing like a new spring outfit to lift our spirits.

Poor Tessa

This is my poor dog, Tessa. She had surgery last week and had to wear one of those collar things. She was very good about it and did not complain.

Don't worry, she is doing very well now and enjoying soaking up the sunshine.

I decided to serve her breakfast on a silver platter with a crystal dish. (I still need to find another dish for her food) I think that is fitting for such a princess, don't you?

Treasure Hunting

I love a great bargain, don't you? One of my favourite pasttimes is scouring the Thrift Stores and flea markets for a good deal. (of course any kind of shopping is good!) I call this Treasure Hunting. This afternoon I popped into the local Thrift Store and found this little treasure.

It is going in my front yard between two white wicker Ikea chairs. It is a great place to sit in the summer as it is the coolest part of the yard.

The price certainly made this deal sweet.
